The Nilgiris has remained rabies-free for over fifteen years — one of only three regions in India cited as a model in The Lancet. The work is door to door, dog by dog. SPCA Nilgiris is part of how that line is held.
Mystique was a Shih Tzu. She was mine, and I was hers, and she taught me more about presence and patience and love-without-words than most of the people in my life have. The book that came out of her grief releases on what would have been her birthday. The dogs it protects are the ones she never met.
